Maple-Garlic Brussels Sprouts with Crispy Bacon

Servings 6 Servings

Ingredients
  

  • ½ pound bacon, cut into pieces
  • 2 pounds brussels sprouts, trimmed and cut in half
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2-3 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • Fry the bacon in a large skillet, over medium high heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Reserve bacon grease in the pan.
  • In the same pan used to cook the bacon, over medium-high heat, add the brussels and sauté for 5 minutes. Cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat to medium, and cook for 5-6 minutes, or until fork tender.
  • Add the garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to the pan, and cook uncovered for 20-30 seconds, making sure that garlic does not burn. Add the bacon back in the pan along with the maple syrup. Give the pan a few shakes. and remove from heat.
  • Serve and enjoy!
