Boozy Hot Cocoa

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweet condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • ½ cup Kahlua coffee liqueur
  • whipped cream (optional)
  • marshmallows (optional)
  • crushed peppermint candies


  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and cornstarch. Whisk until cornstarch is completely dissolved. Add cocoa powder, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla salt and cinnamon; mix well. Heat through, stirring for approximately 3 minutes. Add liqueur; stir and serve in individual mugs. Garnish with topping of choice.
