There are few things more satisfying than a clean kitchen! It means that nothing is standing between you and the delicious delights you can dream up. But if your kitchen is disorganized, dirty or full of clutter, you’ll need to resolve that nightmare before meal prep.  Remember that a clean kitchen is a healthy kitchen!

Here at The Mad Table, we want to share our top tips for keeping your kitchen clean and pristine:

Safety First

Never mix bleach and ammonia – it’s toxic!

Smoky oven due to a food spill? Sprinkle salt on the spill to lessen the smoke.  The mess will be easier to clean when the oven cools.  Sprinkle a little cinnamon to get rid of any odors.

Ditch the cellulose sponges! They’re notorious germ spreaders. Use eco-friendly scrubber alternatives that aren’t havens for bacteria.

Clean Smart

Clean spills as soon as they happen – much easier than after they’ve dried and adhered to floors or counter tops.

Constantly cleaning your measuring spoons while cooking? Prep dry Ingredients first and then wet ingredients.

Prep vegetables before meats. This way, you don’t have to wash your cutting board and cutlery between ingredients.

Do the dishes after every meal, loading the last set into the dishwasher at night, turning on the machine and unloading it in the morning for a fresh start to the day.

Maintain Good Habits

After using items, put them back where they belong.  This saves you from the BIG cleanup later.

Keep counters clear of clutter – giving you more space for food prep and also keeping things more sanitary.

Make a trash/compost bowl. You can even peel into the bowl to save time.

Clean out your fridge once a week.

Create a nighttime routine of cleaning your countertops and sink, wiping down cabinets and sweeping.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and we believe a clean kitchen is a gorgeous (and healthy) kitchen!
