Bacon, Onion, and Cheese Stuffed Burgers
Ingredients
- 8 strips bacon, diced
- ½ red onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1½ pounds ground beef
- 1 tablespoon worsterchire sauce
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar
- American cheese, for top of burgers (optional)
- 4 burger buns
- lettuce, tomato, and red onions for garnish
- Sauce:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1-3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh minced garlic
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- pinch black pepper
Instructions
- Burgers:
- In a medium a skillet over medium heat, fry bacon until almost crispy. Remove some of the bacon fat, if needed leaving at least 2 tablespoon in the pan. Add the onions to the bacon and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and quickly cook 20-30 seconds. With a slotted spoon, transfer mixture to a bowl and allow to cool.
- In a separate large bowl, combine the ground beef, worsterchire sauce, paprika, salt and pepper. Shape into 8 patties. Create a well in the center of each patty. Add a spoonful of the bacon-cheese mixture and fold the edges over the filling to seal.
- Sear burgers in the same pan used for the bacon or on a hot grill pan over medium-high heat, flipping once until desired doneness is reached, approximately 4 minutes each side for medium. Top with American cheese.
- Serve in buns with sauce and garnishes. Enjoy!
- Sauce:
- Stir all ingredients together. Taste and adjust seasoning to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
