About The Mad Table
Welcome to The Mad Table, a brand inspired and created to bring people together through food. My name is Patty Ruiz and I am the founder of this wonderful foodie venture.
My love for food started as a little girl, watching my dad bring the family together while he was in the kitchen, apron on, holding an over-sized carving fork in one hand and a scotch on the rocks in the other. These priceless moments made me fall in love with food and what it can do for others.
As a mom of four, wife, teacher and chef, I have been fortunate to witness how food not only brings people together, but also empowers them to do good for others. My mission is to inspire people through workshops, classes and interactive dinners. Cooking shouldn’t be scary, and once you realize this, a whole new world opens up right before your eyes.
If you join one of our classes or try one of my recipes in your own kitchen, you, too, will find yourself reflecting on one of my favorite quotes:
“Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.” ~ Ruth Reichl.
All our classes offer practical, hands-on training. We explain and instruct and then we all work together to create a meal or a dish. We also discuss the importance of ingredients and provide creative, original ideas for food presentation.
At The Mad Table, we believe in elevating the basic act of eating to an art form. The dining experience is more than just the food. Food presentation matters and memories are created when the eyes feast, too. It all sounds a little crazy, and that’s how The Mad Table was born!
A Little More About Patty
My cooking style is eclectic all the way! Classy gourmet-ish, rustic and earthy! When I decided to pursue this dream of a cooking career, I might have driven all my loved ones a little mad along with me. However, I’m really proud to say that I was recently invited to join the prestigious Les Dames d’Escoffier’s Miami Chapter. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education, ServeSafe Certified and an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at the Miami Culinary Institute. Being involved in the community is important to me. Here are some of the community events and programs that I have participated in: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Miami Book Fair International, Coconut Grove Art Festival Guest Chef, MDC Dinner for World-Renowned Spanish Chef Juan Mari Arzak, Miami & Ft. Lauderdale Home Design & Remodeling Show, Baptist Health Breast Cancer Sauté and Sip Interactive Dinner.
