Chicken Burgers with Tzaziki

  • Chicken Burgers:
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ cup finely diced onion
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 1 large carrot or 2 small carrots, grated
  • cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • pounds lean ground chicken breast, preferably organic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Tzatziki:
  • 4 ounces greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 hothouse cucumber, unpeeled
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, finely chopped
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1-2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Optional:
  • lettuce + tomatoes, feta, and onions


Chicken Burgers:

  • In a large bowl, mix ground chicken with veggies (i’m keeping them raw but you can sauté first before, if you wish!), salt and pepper. Combine well and shape into 6 patties, about ¾-inch thick. Chill for 1 hour if possible to help hold their shape better.
  • Heat a nonstick griddle or a large nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat and brush with a small amount of canola or coconut oil.
  • Cook patties 5-6 minutes on each side. Serve with tzatziki and toppings of choice!


  • Grate the cucumbers and drain over a strainer (20-30 minutes).
  • Dry well with paper towel and squeeze most of the liquid out.Add the grated cucumber to a large bowl and combine with remaining ingredients. Taste for seasonings.
