Get Moving! If love is an action word, here’s what you can do to celebrate and share the love with your family:Throw a dance party before a celebratory family dinner. Slow dance with your spouse/partner and have a dance-off with the kiddos.  Make Valentine’s Day piñatas for extra fun.

Head outdoors to make s’mores over a bonfire. Let loose and belt out your favorite love songs or show tunes.

Have a scavenger hunt with creative challenges, photo missions and love-themed prizes.

Create a themed dinner and movie night that everyone can enjoy.

Make it a game night! Play charades, Pictionary, or card games that get the whole family involved.

Get creative with food! Make candy jewelry, cupcakes topped with chocolate covered strawberries or heart-shaped pizzas.

Get Personal!Group activities are great, but it’s always wonderful to receive something that was crafted, created or chosen with you in mind.

Write love notes! A personal note that details why you appreciate your loved one is incredibly meaningful.  Example: “I love the way you hold my hand when we’re watching a show.†or “Your laugh gives me so much joy.†Sneak the love note into the person’s backpack, pocket or lunchbox.

At mealtime – when everyone is present – go around the dining room table and have each person express what they love about the others.

Decorate the house with something that represents each family member or what each family member loves.

Depending on the weather and your location, there are fabulous, romantic things to do both indoors and out.

Indoor activities are great for quality time! Here’s how you can get closer:

Sign up for a couples’ cooking or chocolate-making class. It’s fun and you get a delicious take-away.

Laugh away the stress of everyday life by escaping to a comedy show.

Visit a museum to enjoy beautiful works of art or head to an aquarium to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Enjoy a couple’s massage followed by cocktails and dinner at your favorite place.  Or make a special dinner at home just for the two of you – complete with his/her favorite things and some new ideas with a Valentine’s touch.

Watch the sunset or sunrise from your favorite location.

Sweat together! Take a couple’s yoga class or go for a bike ride.

Head to the park or go for a hike and have a picnic lunch.

Whatever the plan, make sure it’s something everyone enjoys.  And always remember, especially at Valentine’s, it’s not about the actual gift, but truly about the meaning and feeling behind it.
